Sunflower Print

Sunflower Print

Two- piece co-ords better known as matchy matchy dressing have become rather fashionable for a few seasons now. My co-ord set I acquired a few years back is in the famous sunflower print from retailer American Apparel. Like most of what American Apparel did at the time, the sunflower print was a throwback to the sunflower and daisy print trend that came out of the mid 90s.

I purchased the top first, then the matching midi skirt later. The modest length of the skirt was a big draw to me since it makes for more weareability.  Initially, the print of the top caught my eye, it’s so summery and bright and reminds me of a tropical vacation in Havana. I do realize that the print may appear to be a has been trend but when both are worn together makes for a retro glam look, especially when paired with my vintage yellow wicker bag and multicolor assorted wooden bangles.  American Apparel (the original version) which happened to be very trendy is long gone, but this set along with a few other styles from the brand that I kept are all so one of a kind items of clothing that I will continue to wear for years to come. A few sunflower prints styles from the brand can still be found on Poshmark. I found this vintage reproduction  sunflower cotton swing dress from the brand, Retro Stage and it’s quite fabulous.

When it comes to wearing co-ords, there are any rules of course. Just pick a color or print that you love in a style that is comfortable to you.
